Tewkesbury Foodbank appeal by TSC

Christmas is approaching, and we'll all be looking forward to a sumptuous Christmas dinner. But the less fortunate in Tewkesbury will struggle to feed themselves and their families this festive season.

TSC would like to help our fellow townspeople by making a donation to Tewkesbury Foodbank and we would like to appeal to everyone to join is in donating.

Tewkesbury Foodbank is run by the Trussell Trust network out of Holy Trinity Church, Oldbury Road, adjacent to Cascades. The trust works in partnership with local churches and organisations to bring foodbanks to communities across the UK. Trussell Trust foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK. These crises can happen to any of us through something as simple as sudden unemployment or an unexpected large bill.

In 2013-14 foodbanks fed 913,138 people nationwide. Of those helped, 330,205 were children – some may well be classmates of our children.

Tewkesbury Foodbank's list of priority items includes: Milk (UHT or powdered), Tinned meat or fish, Sugar (500g), Fruit juice (carton), Soup, Pasta sauces, Sponge pudding (tinned), Tomatoes (tinned), Cereals, Rice pudding (tinned), Tea bags or instant coffee, Instant mashed potato, Tinned vegetables, Baked beans, Rice or pasta, Tinned fruit, Jam, Biscuits or snack bars.

Committee members will be collecting donations at Cascades during the evening training sessions on Tuesday 15th and Thursday 17th December and at the Tewkesbury School pool during the evening training session on Thursday 17th December.

Thank you in anticipation of your help.
